sew suite!

Some things to note about this card.
*It is fabric pieced
*The fabric swatch under the sewing machine needle - I cut a slit in the CS and slid the fabric through the slit
*The lace flower is layered with Cherry Cobbler ribbon seam binding
*The DP and fabric is from 2010 SU! Holiday Mini catalog

This is an all Stampin' Up card using the Sew Suite stamp set.
 Love this set.

Fresh Cut Flowers...

This time of year I love to walk around my flower beds and cut fresh flowers to bring inside. Now Faith's D2D image this week brings the same happy feeling to my ho-made card...

The scallop black frame around the image was an creative accident!

I wanted to mat the image but the scallop nestie I used just looked toooooo big. So being the cheapo I am, I decided to die cut a simple square out of the middle of the scallop die cut. Well, it caught my attention and when I placed it around the image with the pink background showing through, well, it just didn't look so big and made a perfect frame!
Love it when that happens!

Now for some inspirational challenges...

Digital Tuesday - favorite ice cream combo. I've been on a strictly vanilla ice cream kick with added ingredients. With the fresh strawberries in our garden (well, were in our garden) it has been vanilla with loads of fresh cut-up strawberries!

Craft Your Days Away - Chose a monochrome color theme

Crazy 4 Challenges - add twine, floss or string

Designed 2 Delight Card Ideas - use color combo of orange/pink. sigh ;) I love pink but not so much orange so my combo is very heavy on pink and a few orange flowers.

Designed 2 Delight - the Fresh Cut digi by Faith (I obtained this digi free by participating in the progressive challenge she has every month!)

Lexi's Creations - no sentiment.

Penny's Challenges - Best Friends - represented by the 2 hearts in the bouquet

Truly Scrumptious - the sketch I used. Love this sketch!

Everybody Art Challenge - is an anything goes challenge this week.

Oh Mary, Mary...

how does your garden grow?
Well, from Faith's new freebie digi for this week
it's lookin' pretty good!
Must be a butterfly garden with lots of butterfly bushes and butterfly weed.
And that cute little toad looks almost like the guys hopping around my flower beds
 - except -
they're a ugly brownish, gray color and
I've never seen a smile on their faces!

Challenge inspirations for this charming card are...

Just Add Ink - add some color, I used a combination of Prisma Markers and Copics
One Crazy Stamper - colors of the rainbow
Top Tip Tuesday - open
Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger, Rainbow Bright
Anything Goes Challenge - Here comes summer
Bee Crafty - Summer is here!
Designed 2 Delight - Mary, Mary free digi (be sure to check Faith's blog for deets)

HAPPY PAPA'S DAY!

So many masculine challenges in blog land  -
must be lots of cards being made for all the great daddy's!

I have had the honor of loving two of the greatest Dad's in my world!
My father who passed away 20 years ago.
I was Daddy's Baby Doll, which I used to my advantage at every chance I got.
My mother spanked me once for reminding her of that fact
when she told me to do something, LOL!

The other great father in my life is my DH.
I knew he would be a loving husband, but his role as father
to my favorite daughter is just amazing!
(Don't think I'm playing favorites here,
I only have one [adult] child who just happens
to be a girl and she is the bestest!)

I had an idea in my head to use a necktie on this card, mostly because my masculine stamps are non existent. I wanted it dimensional so I found directions for an Origami Necktie. Really easy to do even though I picked a little more complicated one. You can find an easier version a here.

My main inspiration today is Day 94, Button Blitz Challenge at 365 Cards to use at least 20 buttons and 6 needed to be stacked. I couldn't imagine all the weight of real buttons so I mixed real and faux on this card. I tried a technique of faux embossing by using layer on layer of the white card stock with the embossed die cut buttons. Not so sure it lives up to my expectation.

I was also inspired by the following challenges:

The following asked for a Masculine/Father's Day theme...

And then other inspirations...
CES Challenge - embossing
Cupcake Craft Challenge - Zesty Colors - Orange, Yellow, Green
Paper Play Challenge - Greens, Yellows and Oranges
The Saturday Challenge - Clean and Simple

Thanks for stopping by on this SUNNY, HOT DAY!
HELLO SUMMER!
